Kansas FITA State Archery Association (KFSAA) 72 Arrow Qualifier
FITA Round Tournaments are hard to come about in Kansas though the Kansas FITA State Archery Association (KFSAA) 72 Arrow Qualifier that was co-hosted by Prairie Fire Archers and Wichita Shooting Stars (J.O.A.D.) at Powder Creek in Lenexa, Kansas. The headline photo is of the Prairie Fire Archers Team, all earning medals in this competition.
“It concerns us to know the purposes we seek in life, for then, like archers aiming at a definite mark, we shall be more likely to attain what we want.” – Aristotle
Variety of Archers and Equipment
USA Archery is the supporting parent organization to the KFSAA and all rules including the dress code for archers were in effect. There were a variety of different age groups and different classes, or equipment types, used by the archers. They all shoot the same line at a variety of different target sizes and distances. The Director of the Tournament, Kerry Heidebrecht, also happens to be the DJ making sure a good time is had by all. Behind the scenes there are a lot of great people who organize tournaments, gather targets, determine the format and figure out all the logistics. Joanna Heidebrecht is not only the leader of all things necessary to ensure a good tournament, she organized all the logistics for food, venue and tournament marketing.
There are very few certified judges in the state of Kansas, exactly 3 to be technical. Two are part of the Prairie Fire Archers organization and one from the Wichita Shooting Stars. We are very lucky to have all three attend the Kansas FITA State Archery Association (KFSAA) 2015 72 Arrow Qualifier.
